New Release!

The floral aromatics are more pronounced in the 2008 Searby Vineyard Chardonnay, which distinguishes it from our other Nickel & Nickel wines. The Muscat and mineral notes harmonize nicely with its natural orange, lemon-lime acidity, producing a very succulent blend. This combination of fruit and acidity is quite refreshing and the addition of rich, French oak creates a wine that is lively and persistent. The beauty of this wine is that it can be enjoyed upon release or it can lay down to evolve new complexities.

New Release!

Pineapple and minerals show through in the 2008 Truchard Vineyard Chardonnay with some fig, pear and apple mixed throughout. A juicy texture surrounds the fruit, while the vanilla and cedar from the French oak adds another layer of complexity. The creaminess on the palate, which is not a result of malolactic fermentation, but rather a characteristic that is inherent in the ripe fruit itself, carries the fruit into a long, flavorful finish.

The smaller berries from this vintage were a blessing since they produced a wine with abundant fruit flavors. The 2008 Medina Chardonnay yields a tropical quality of banana and passion fruit. Hints of Muscat, minerals and lemon evolve on the natural crisp acidity that derives from the area. This wine strikes a nice balance between fruit, acid and oak creating a wine with an opulent middle palate that carries the fruit into a long, persistent finish.

The smaller berries from this vintage produced a wine with incredible color and flavor. This 2007 Darien Vineyard Syrah has abundant plum and sweet berry fruit nestled amongst spice and smoke from the oak. Hints of mineral and meat, characteristic of the varietal, complement the fruit. A bit richer than past vintages, this wine has a polished and smooth middle palate with sweet tannins that round out the finish. This excellent progression of fruit, spice, toast and meat continuing into a long, supple finish has become the signature of this vineyard.

New Release!

The 2007 Dyer Vineyard Syrah is a wonderfully dense wine. Raspberry and boysenberry combine with dark chocolate character, offering a nice textural feel. The natural earthy and meaty “funk” that is characteristic of the varietal adds an interesting element amidst the fruit and toasty French oak. This wine is very broad on the palate and expands with coating tannins into a long, expressive finish.

The smaller crop this year produced a wine that is quite distinct. The floral nature of this fruit really stands out with this 2007 vintage as the wine expresses notes of violet and rose. An elegance and youth shine through as the juicy berry fruit plays with a warm spice and toast that comes from the oak. The fine, silky texture and soft tannins carry this medley of flavors into a juicy, harmonious finish.

The consistency of this vineyard is remarkable from vintage to vintage. The 2007 Bonfire Zinfandel has beautiful aromas of ripe, jammy fruits mixed with toasty French oak. Raspberry and blackberry, laced with black pepper, vanilla and cedar, complete the rich flavor profile. The middle palate is beautifully textured and juicy, and the supple flavors flow into a long, layered finish.

The smaller crop in 2007 led to beautifully ripe flavors and this wine has all the character of a classic Russian River Zinfandel. Dusty, raspberry flavors with white pepper, vanilla and spice blend together nicely and offer a pleasing combination of texture and flavor. A special selection of French oak adds a layer of subtle char to this vintage which, complements the fruit, expanding the middle palate into a nice, long finish.

There is no mistaking this wine with any other. This 2007 Suscol Ranch Merlot has briary aromatics with a dark plum and wild berry flavor that is juicy upon entry. Layer upon layer of dust, earth, herb and cedar intermix with the fruit, creating a complex medley of flavors. Its unique, supple character is full and lively on the palate. From year to year, this wine’s distinctiveness lies in the lush, velvety tannins that expand upon the initial sip and develop with richness through the finish.

Similar to last year, both open- and closed-top fermenters were used to produce the 2007 Harris Merlot, which emphasizes both fruit and palate feel. This classic Merlot has beautiful flavors of plum, sage, earth and cedar. It is a wonderfully balanced Merlot with a nice, sweet palate and soft, round tannins. The toast and spice contribution from the French oak integrates with the fruit, creating a round middle core. For those who love to drink Merlot, this is a classic for your cellar.
